Sophomore fillies shipped into the Delaware County Fair for its annual meet, with the pacers competing in two heats of the $239,400 Jugette and the trotters racing in the $86,200 Buckette on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Beginning her grind to the lead at the half, Miss Tezsla (BC-Andover Hall) bested pacesetter Naughty Iii and pocket-sitter Ultimate Shopper (BC-Yankee Glide) to win the Buckette in 1:55.1 Owned by Miss Tezsla Stable, trained by Jimmy Takter, and driven by Brett Miller, she paid $3.20 to win.
Call Me Queen Be (BC-Somebeachsomewhere) went wire to wire in the first heat of the Jugette, winning by four lengths over L A Delight (BC-Bettor’s Delight) closing for second and Pure Country (BC-Somebeachsomewhere) faltering from a first over trip and finishing third. Pacing a world-record mile of 1:50.1 and paying $8.80 to win, she’s owned by Let It Ride Stables and Mr. Dana Parham, trained by Ross Croghan, and driven by Scott Zeron.
With Darlinonthebeach (BC-Somebeachsomewhere) and Marty Party Two scratching out of the second heat, L A Delight drafted behind Call Me Queen Be, pulling out of the pocket and edging to a 1:51.3 win in the Jugette final. Owned by Robert McIntosh Stables, C S X Stables, and Al McIntosh Holdings, trained by Robert McIntosh, and driven by John Campbell, she paid $8.20 to win.
