Confederate takes over No. 1 spot in Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll

Hightstown, NJ — Only one position from a week ago was unchanged in Tuesday’s Week 6 edition of the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll’s Top 10, which saw Meadowlands Pace champ Confederate move up to take the No. 1 spot and one newcomer join the group.

Confederate received 13 of 35 first-place votes and 315 points as he replaced Jiggy Jog S in the No. 1 spot. Mistletoe Shalee winner Sylvia Hanover landed 12 points behind Confederate in second as she improved one position from last week. It’s My Show, who was idle, dropped from second to third.

Jiggy Jog S, who finished second to M-M’s Dream in the Hambletonian Maturity, dropped from first to fourth after spending one week at No. 1. Special Way, who was idle, completed the top five.

M-M’s Dream joined the Top 10 at No. 10 thanks to her upset Maturity triumph. Ahead of her were Dorothy Haughton Memorial runner-up Grace Hill in sixth, William R. Haughton Memorial third-place finisher Ruthless Hanover in seventh, and idle Up Your Deo and Covered Bridge, in eighth and ninth, respectively.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The members of the U.S. Harness Writers Association vote on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year.

Rankings based on the votes of harness racing media representatives on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.
